Thai Holy Basil Stir-Fry (Pad Kra Pao) Recipe - EASY ⭐️

Pad Kra Pao is all about incredible flavour and that irresistible holy basil aroma filling the kitchen as it cooks. It’s not only delicious and budget-friendly but also a breeze to make. Plus, it’s loaded with nutrients, making it a great choice for a “healthy meal.” Pair it with rice and mix in some vibrant veggies for a tasty and well-rounded dish.

PREP TIME : 15 mins
COOK TIME : 15 mins
SERVINGS : 2 Servings

400 g ground pork (Or substitute with beef or chicken)
1 bunch holy basil (Or substitute with basil)
 6 cloves garlic
 2 Thai red chilies
 2 shallots
 2 tbsp oil
 2 eggs
 1 tbsp soy sauce
 1 tbsp oyster sauce
 1 tbsp fish sauce
 2 tsp sugar
 ½ tsp ground black pepper
 2 servings cooked rice

1. Peel and crush garlic, shallots, and chili peppers using a mortar and pestle. If you don’t have one, chopping will work too.

2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the crushed garlic, shallots, and chili, and sauté until fragrant.

3. Add the ground pork and cook until it starts to brown.

4. Stir in the sugar, ground black pepper, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and fish sauce. Mix well and continue cooking until the liquid reduces and the pork is cooked through.

5. Turn off the heat and stir in the Thai holy basil leaves. Let the residual heat wilt the basil.

6. Serve with fried eggs and white rice.

Tips:

  • Remove the seeds and membranes from the chilis for a milder kick.
